What is Squarespace?

Squarespace is a website platform, which I build with. (Examples ofther website platforms include: Wordpress, Wix, Joomla, Shopify, etc). Squarespace stands out as a simple and elegant option for modern websites. It is one of the leading platforms popular among professional designers and DIYers alike. As a company, Squarespace has been compared to Apple because they have created an elegant solution within a complex industry.

What distinguishes Squarespace from other platforms?

Squarespace is an all-in-one platform. In addition to the website's operating system, Squarespace also hosts all Squarespace websites (including its own) on Squarespace servers. They have a dedicated team that manages security, backups, optimization, etc.

Why do I build on Squarespace?

Several reasons. 1) Squarespace websites tend to be super clean and easy to use. 2) Squarespace allows me to build neatly and efficiently 3) Squarespace is the most client friendly platform available for simple edits. This allows clients to easily tweak their own site without relying on a designer for many simple edits.

How secure is Squarespace?

Very secure. Here's a description from Squarespace: "We employ security measures such as using firewalls to protect against intruders, building redundancies throughout our network and testing for and protecting against network vulnerabilities."  https://www.squarespace.com/privacy/

How much does Squarespace cost?

First, you should understand what you are paying for. Your website is literally a collection of files, organized by a system. You are paying Squarespace to host your files on their servers and provide the system with which to build and edit your files. Regarding price, Squarespace has two price tiers: Personal ($12 per month if paid annually) and Business ($18 per month if paid annually). you can view full pricing details here: https://www.squarespace.com/pricing

What are the other costs besides paying the Squarespace hosting fee?

Besides paying Squarespace for website hosting and paying me to design and build your website, there is generally only one other fee: your domain name fee, which typically runs about $12 per year. Your domain name is your website's address. For example, my domain name is ianqdesign.com.
